ZAFÈ means business in Creole. The very 1st version of ZAFÈ was born 10 months after the deadly earthquake of 2010 in an attempt for doing something different not only to help out of emergency but also to re-activate some of the very basic mechanism that makes an economy viable for its depending agents.

Nowadays, to think of doing Business with Haïti, it is a bit of contrast due to perception that Haïti is only a place for charities. We want to provide for another perspective. We want to help people to transition from poverty to well-being and let them learn and develop the best business practices.

Zafè was created, by women for women, to support sustainable poverty alleviation one item at a time. We make it happen through the ethical direct trade of quality handmade accessories between artisans in Haïti and web consumers in North America. Working with vulnerable women in desperate communities Zafè creates a platform to enable any talented artisan to participate in international trade. Recognizing an addressable need, as well as a market opportunity, to disrupt these systemic patterns of poverty found across Haïti’s economy, Zafè is being redesigned in 2014.

Zafè sets an eCommerce that expands access to economic opportunity for artisans in vulnerable communities, disrupting the traditional export supply chain and setting radical transparency. This way, we cut traditional middlemen, reducing logistical costs, increasing profits for artisans and providing for affordable pricing to North American consumers.
